Sonya Kozlova is a 21 year old illustrator and designer born in Moscow, brought up in Milwaukee, and based in Manhattan. She is a senior at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a concentration in art and design.
Sonya Kozlova’s work primarily deals with the ambiguities of romantic relationships. The definitions of one’s own identity are most dynamic and fleeting in the psychological dimensions of love and infatuation. She finds that such relationships are the most curious spaces to investigate personal identity, as the boundaries of self and other are truly tested when confronted by a significant other. In Introduction, Climax, and Epilogue, Kozlova creates a visual narrative in the exploration of female agency, seduction, and their consequences.
